My main reason for posting about my epilepsy was to inform my followers of how dangerous epileptic seizures can be. ONE in every ONE-HUNDRED people have a seizure disorder. Too many people are mis-informed as to how to treat or help a seizing person as they are convulsing.
Here are some tips to help someone if you see them having a seizure:
PLEASE RE-BLOG and SUPPORT. :)
For those of you who don’t know me- my name is Kristin. I’m a 20 year old fashion student and a native New Yorker. I’ve had this Tumblr page for a few years now..but in the past 6 months i’ve collected enough bullshit to seem somewhat interesting to the few people that actually follow me.
Six years ago I was diagnosed with Epilepsy (a neurological disorder that is marked by sudden convulsions or seizures.) After my first episode in 2006.. it never truly affected me until this past May when I had a grand-mal (the most serious/intense form of seizures) during finals week. After many tests my neurologists decided that my seizures were caused by lack of sleep. Since then I have had about 5 grand mal seizures and a couple tonic-clonics (mild seizures.) Last fall I took a medical leave from school to take a mental breather and focus on myself. When October rolled around I found a job at Wink (http://winknycblog.tumblr.com/) There I met some amazing friends and acquired a fabulous new wardrobe thanks to the wonderful (yet dangerous) discount.
Unfortunately NYE I suffered from another grand-mal seizure and since the new year started they have only gotten more frequent and severe-forcing me to cut back on work and focus on my health (once again) and school (since I am re-enrolled.)
Although my future in fashion and progress in school is being hindered I must keep a positive outlook. I am so thankful to have my boyfriend, family and friends.I’m going to start writing a lot more personal things in here to help with my short term memory and to keep me sane…So leave me notes and whatnot if you’d like. :)
